John 6.24-35Context
The readings from John 6 continue and this week we encounter for the first time the great saying ‘I am the Bread of Life’.
Common thread – What you hunger for (John 6.24–35)
The ROOTS resources this week continue to explore the teachings about bread. Pursued by the crowd, Jesus challenges them to identify the reason for their pursuit, providing an opportunity to ask people to think about what it is that makes us live – beyond the sustenance of food. The reading concludes with another feature which characterises John’s writing – one of the ‘I am’ sayings of Jesus.
