Small is beautiful

Mark 4.26-34

Jesus tells two stories about seeds, reminding us that it is from small beginnings, and through organic growth, that the kingdom comes about.

This week's reading, Mark 4.26-34, provides us with an opportunity to:

  • appreciate that disciples have to wrestle to understand parables
    (AAA & CYP)
  • recognise that Jesus speaks of the kingdom of God to us in parables (AAA)
  • recognise that Jesus speaks of the kin-dom of God to us in parables (CYP)
  • consider the impact of small actions (CYP).

This is week two of the seven-week theme: Following the footsteps where we explore who Mark’s Jesus is and ask what it means to become his apprentice.

These resources were first published in Issue 59 May/June 2012.
