Towards the light

25 December 2019

The light has come

John 1.1-14

Adult & All Age

God’s Word created the life that is light shining in darkness. The Word was in the world, rejected by some but received by others. Now the Word has become flesh and, John says, we have seen his glory.

This week's resources explore: being sent by God; testifying to the light.

Children & Young People

This Christmas we are exploring the beginning of the Gospel of John, a poetic and symbolic passage, very far removed from our usual nativity scenes with sheep and wise men and angels.

We have combined the children, young people and families material into one resource to cover Christmas Day and 29 December. We have also changed our usual headings from Gather, Open the Word etc to Welcome the light; Who is the light?; Explore the light; and Walk in the light.

The message is that the God who is everywhere has come to be somewhere. He comes to dwell in our hearts, minds and lives this Christmas and for ever as the living Son of God, the Word made flesh and light of the world. Let’s celebrate that message together.
