Journeying alongside others

Acts 8.26-40

On the road to Gaza, Philip meets an Ethiopian court official who was reading the prophet Isaiah – the passage that begins, ‘Like a sheep he was led to the slaughter’. Prompted by the Spirit, Philip asks the man whether he understands what he is reading. The man says he needs a guide, and Philip uses this as an opportunity to speak about Jesus and the man immediately asks to be baptized. Philip turns back towards Jerusalem, proclaiming the good news everywhere he goes.

Stepping out of your front door can be an adventure (as Bilbo discovered in The Hobbit). But encountering somebody on the journey may change our lives. This is what we explore in today’s resources. We think of our own journeys and how travelling with others can bring new insights, friendships, solace – and, you never know, we might even meet with Jesus!
