John 1.29-42Context
We move to John's Gospel today for a further reflection on the opening days of Jesus' ministry. After reading the testimony of John we read a remarkable account of the recruitment of the first followers.
Common thread: Wise or foolish followers? (John 1.29-42)
John's testimony to Jesus has the hallmark of authority but do we read it with the wisdom of hindsight? And was it not foolish for a group of people following one leader simply to go off and follow another whose only invitation is 'Come and see'?
An alternative thread for adults, The call of God, is based on 1 Corinthians 1.1-9.
