John 6.1-21Context
This week we begin a five-week reading of John 6, which draws throughout upon the metaphor of bread. The chapter opens with a stunning story, surrounded by details which provide a traditional context.
Common thread – Jesus makes the difference (John 6.1–21)
The ROOTS resources this week consider the account of the feeding of the five thousand in John’s Gospel. Here is one of the signs which are distinctive of this Gospel. Set within the context of the approaching Passover, we meet a child who is willing to share his food and in the light of the bigger story we consider the significance of this.
