Epiphany

Matthew 2.1-12

Context

Today we use the Epiphany readings to help us mark the next chapter in the Christmas story. As we do so, we open a new series in the ROOTS resources that aims to examine the conundrum of wisdom and foolishness in biblical writing.

Common thread: Wise or foolish journey? (Matthew 2.1-12)

We open our wisdom and foolishness series by asking whether the wise men were really wise – or were they foolish in setting out on their journey to find a king by following a star.

An alternative thread for adults, A new hope, is based on Isaiah 60.1-6.

These resources were first published in Issue 51 January/February 2011.
