Be trustworthy

Matthew 25.14-30

Context

As we read on through Matthew 25, the focus shifts slightly from preparedness to trustworthiness and the characters become slightly more mundane: last week's bridesmaids at a special celebration are replaced by ordinary household slaves undertaking their master's business.

Common thread: Be trustworthy (Matthew 25.14-30)

As we continue to reel in the wake of the global banking crisis and its effect on the world's economies, this tale of investment has a familiar feel to it. Jesus expects his listeners (and us) to make the leap from coins to behaviour. The commission to be trustworthy, with the challenges this presents, is, at the moment, familiar territory.

An alternative thread, Being responsible, concludes the series on 1 Thessalonians.
