Proper 5

Mark 3.20-35

Following the footsteps

Seven weeks in which we explore who Mark’s Jesus is and ask what it means to become his apprentice.

Week 1: Doing the will of God

In today’s Gospel reading we find Jesus facing challenges on two fronts: the hostile scribes and his puzzled and worried family. At the heart of his response is a concern with discerning and doing the will of God.

This week's reading, Mark 3.20-35, provides us with an opportunity to:

  • discover Jesus’ understanding of family (AAA & CYP)
  • see that disciples are people who do the will of God (AAA & CYP).

These resources were first published in Issue 59 May/June 2012.
