Information: The Leprosy Mission International

Information about the work of TMLI, suitable for all ages.

Leprosy is a disease that affects millions of people around the world, mainly in poorer countries. It damages the skin and the nervous system. People sometimes lose fingers because they trap them or burn them and cannot feel the damage. Leprosy can make people look strange and it is widely thought to be easy to catch. As a result, people with leprosy can be treated unfairly. They may lose their jobs or be sent away from their villages. However, most of us are immune to it and it is now completely curable with the right medicines.
