A step into the unknown
John 3.1-17Nicodemus, a Pharisee, goes to see Jesus, acknowledging him as a man of God. Jesus says that to see the kingdom of God you must be ‘born from above’. Nicodemus doesn’t understand, although Jesus says that, being a teacher, he should. Jesus also says that those who believe in God’s only Son will have eternal life.
Jesus’ late-night conversation with Nicodemus challenges him, and others like him in the synagogue, to be courageous enough to bring their curiosity about Jesus into the open. They will find this challenging – as will we – but the disturbance it causes will be like being born over again.
This week we explore what it takes to try something new.
