Epiphany

Matthew 2.1-12

Context

Over the coming eight weeks we shall be exploring the revelation of Christ to the world – The Word made flesh. The journey begins at Epiphany with the visit of the Magi. ‘Epiphany’ means the showing forth, or revealing, of the glory of God in Christ. It is our challenge as Christians to continue to make Christ known to those who have not yet seen him.

Common thread – Recognised and worshipped (Matthew 2.1-12)

The ROOTS resources this week explore the significance of the visit of the Magi described in Matthew’s Gospel and the first revelation of Christ to the Gentiles.

An alternative thread

No revelation – no heritage! within the Word and Response material for adults explores Paul’s writing to the Ephesians.

These resources were first published in Issue 39 January/February 2009.
