Trinity Sunday

John 16.12-15

Context

Today is Trinity Sunday, kept since its inception by Thomas Becket, the martyred Archbishop of Canterbury, in the twelfth century on the Sunday after Pentecost. After this, the Church enters the long season of Ordinary Time.

Common thread – The things that are to come (John 16.12-15)

The ROOTS resources today focus on more of Jesus’ teaching to the disciples after the Last Supper. Here he tries to prepare them for his departure from the earth, reassuring them that God will make provision for their ongoing ministry but that they will need to move into this new venture step by step. We are encouraged to reflect that this is sensible advice for us today and follows a natural pattern of human development.

An alternative thread for adults, Space travel and God, is based on Psalm 8.

These resources were first published in Issue 47 May/June 2010.
