Matthew 22.1-14Context
We continue our exploration of common biblical metaphors this week as we look at the image of the feast in Matthew 22, and in the Isaiah reading.
Common thread: Feast (Matthew 22.1-14)
While Isaiah incorporates the feast image into his celebration of deliverance, Jesus’ story in Matthew’s account incorporates a warning. The banquet metaphor is frequently woven into scriptural teaching, and today we explore it for its own sake while keeping one eye on the particular context of Jesus’ tale.
