Isaiah 61.1-4,8-11Context
On the third Sunday in Advent we consider a message given by the prophet Isaiah, which subsequently became Jesus’ mission statement.
Common thread: Waiting for joy (Isaiah 61.1-4,8-11)
The third Sunday in Advent provides a further opportunity for the prophet to emphasise the new relationship God wants with his people. Isaiah 61 proclaims a message of mercy and restoration offering joy to God’s waiting people.
