As Christmas draws closer, we move, today, to consider the Gospel reading – Luke’s account of the annunciation to Mary.
Modern day waiting is a passive kind of activity: what time the bus turns up is entirely outside our control. But biblical waiting is an active anticipation, a willingness to discern what God is doing and line up behind it, to step out in faith and obedience in the way exemplified by Mary in today’s Gospel reading.
An alternative thread, What kind of kingship?, is based on 2 Samuel 7.1-11,16.
