Adapting to changing circumstances
As ROOTS resources are so flexible, our subscribers have been able to use them in many different ways. Here are just a few ways in which they've been used.

‘At our church we have made extensive use of these resources. Apart from our worship services being conducted online, and with which we have had much success on Zoom, we have also been running three sessions of Junior Church on the Zoom platform… ROOTS materials have been very well formulated and well adapted to life online. ‘We have all had to find radically new ways of working in the past few months. ROOTS made this part of my job that bit easier.’ |
‘During “normal” times I used ROOTS resources to check the lectionary readings, to help choose hymns and I also look at it for ideas for a children’s talk and possibly for sermon ideas. I used the prayers in my services with some rewording if I felt it was needed… since March I have been writing a “reflection” each week since and sending it to two churches who are without a minister. It is emailed and also printed and distributed. I continue to use ROOTS almost as I did before this situation.’ Lay preacher |

I have found ROOTS' resources very helpful in planning the weekly teaching for the children at our local church. This has been either posted or emailed... The activities have been brilliant. Between the different pages of resources there is a good number to choose from and it's been helpful to have a mix to cover all age ranges. Feedback I have received has been positive with the children enjoying using this material, particularly the craft and the songs.' |
'We have continued with Sunday School via WhatsApp video calls to our families. We enjoy our time together to chat and tell our news, pray and listen to the weekly Bible story. We have some reflection on the passage. I have found it useful to send out an outline of the weekly message in advance and then families can prepare visual aids etc before each session.' |
