Digging deeper into Bible passages every week

The Roots resources are based on the Revised Common Lectionary. This is a collection of readings used for worship that has been adopted, with minor variations, across many denominations right across the world. Each week four readings are provided:
  • a reading from the Gospels
  • a related Old Testament text
  • a Psalm passage that fosters reflection on the texts
  • and a significant extract from one of the letters or other writings from the New Testament.
In the weekly resources, we offer ideas to bring these texts to life today - with fresh ways to present the readings, and interactive ways to unpack and respond to them.  Find out more about Roots and the Lectionary

Expanding children's horizons

We produce beautifully illustrated children's versions of each week's Bible story. These stories are an integral part of God's big story - but are not always the ones that you'd see in a children's Bible. Whether well known or less familiar, we help leaders approach the readings with confidence.

Stop and share

We're careful to keep key Bible words and phrases in the children's version of the stories, making it easier for children to move seamlessly to an 'adult' Bible when the time comes. With Stop and share, leaders can pause to explain these key terms, or to deepen children's understanding with background information.

Visual aids

We've built up a bank of powerful visual aids to help children and young people understand the Biblical context of a passage. They include an Old Testament family tree, a Moses timeline and colouring book, a David and Solomon story poster, and a map of the Acts of the Apostles.

Children Thrive

Supporting family discipleship

Our weekly take-home Thrive resource helps families explore the reading together in their day-to-day lives. Thrive includes a short reflection for teenagers/adults on the Bible reading, background Bible notes, and a range of worship activities that families can do together during the week.
