Easter Sunday

Luke 24.1-12

Context

The Gospel reading for Easter Day offers clues about the resurrection but no actual appearance by the risen Christ.

Common thread – Clues to the risen Christ (Luke 24.1-12)

The Gospel for Easter Day tells the story of the discovery of the empty tomb by the women, of the message from two men in white and of the women telling their story to the rest of the disciples. The ROOTS resources encourage everyone to imagine how all these events must have seemed to the women and to the other disciples, when they had puzzling clues but as yet no actual experience of the risen Christ.

An alternative thread, Come and participate in the reign of God!, draws from John 20.1-18.

These resources were first published in Issue 46 March/April 2010.
