Easter Sunday

Luke 24.1-12

Seeing the extraordinary in the ordinary - Week 1 of 8

Eight weeks in which we find in the Acts of the Apostles Luke’s understanding of what it means to encounter the risen Christ. Through the Easter season (31 March–19 May) we shall be reading about the way that the gospel spread out from Jerusalem following the resurrection of Jesus.

Running to the tomb

On Easter Sunday we begin an eight week series exploring the impact of the resurrection. Today we celebrate the empty tomb and meet Peter, a key witness, from whom we shall hear many times in the coming weeks.

This week's reading, Luke 24.1-12, provides us with an opportunity to:

  • identify Peter as a key witness of the resurrection (AAA & CYP)
  • recognise the importance of witnessing to the resurrection (AAA & CYP)
  • celebrate the Gospel as a witness to the resurrection (AAA & CYP).

These resources were first published in Issue 64 March/April 2013.
