The Spirit alongside us
The word often used in the Greek texts to describe ‘the Holy Spirit’ – parakletos – is translated in various ways in English versions. We explore some of these, to discover that their diversity provides us with a rich variety of understandings.
This week's reading, John 15.26-27;16.4b-15, provides an opportunity to:
- reflect on the words used to describe the Spirit and how they help us to understand something about the Spirit’s nature (AAA and CYP)
- consider ways in which the Spirit sets us free (AAA and CYP)
- reflect on the role of an advocate. (CYP)
