Wooden cross cut out

17 - 23 April 2022

Alive!

Luke 24.1-12

The women come to honour Jesus in the only way left to them – to improve his grave with spices. But the tomb is empty and what happens next is terrifying. However, the message that the ‘men in dazzling clothes’ (v.4) give is full of detail, reminding the women – in Jesus’ own words – that he had predicted his death and resurrection. Luke says, ‘Then they remembered his words’ (v.8) – and this helped to make a new kind of sense out of Jesus’ words and the terrifying moment of discovery and revelation.

Like the women, God draws us away from the empty tomb to discover the risen Christ himself leading us into new ways of living and loving him after his crucifixion.

This week we explore what the empty tomb means for us.
