The links between the lectionary readings
A strong message of inclusivity underlines today's readings. We are called to reflect the generosity of God who has created all people and who gives more than we dare to hope for.

Old Testament   Proverbs 22.1–2, 8–9, 22–23
This month the Old Testament readings are drawn from the Wisdom literature, which reflects the fact that the Jews were in close contact with other cultures, particularly with the world of Greek philosophy. In this marketplace of ideas the Jews were anxious to use the learning of others, whilst demonstrating the superiority of their own faith.
