Genesis 1.1-5Identity
Three weeks in which we explore the relevance of the biblical writers' use of 'identity' and 'calling' to the ongoing relationship between God and humanity.
Week 2: Called into being
This week, in the opening verses of Genesis, the speaking metaphor conveys God’s close identity with creation, delighting in it: ‘God saw that the light was good.’
This week’s reading, Genesis 1.1-5, provides an opportunity to:
- recognise God as creator (AAA & CYP)
- consider the meanings of the word ‘call’ (AAA & CYP)
- think about how we share in the stewardship of creation (AAA & CYP)
- become familiar with the beginning of the Genesis story of creation (CYP).
