The promise of God - Week 5 of 5

Five weeks in which we discover the God who is able to accomplish far more than all we can ask or imagine.

God who is for all time

On this Sunday before Lent, we complete our series on The promise of God with Mark’s account of the Transfiguration, looking back to the tradition of the great prophets and forward to Christ’s passion.

This week’s reading, Mark 9.2-9, provides an opportunity to:

  • learn about the symbolism of the characters present at the Transfiguration (AAA)
  • reflect on the cost of discipleship (AAA)
  • reflect on the significance of God’s presence with us even in our times of fear (AAA)
  • become familiar with the story of the Transfiguration (CYP)
  • celebrate the wonder of the Transfiguration (CYP)
  • recognise that the gift of faith has been passed on from Moses to today (CYP)

These resources were first published in Issue 57 – January/February 2012.
